Hi All, I have been reading various discussions for about Four years now & believe this to be one of the most informative sites I have used. I have been a volunteer at a VITA site for the same time period. As such we do basic 1040s with the most complicated ones involving Daycare income and some Rental income. Our site has about 15 individuals volunteering 3 days a week. Last year we did over a 1000 returns. We are always on the IRS or this site and wear our PUB 17. Working with the VITA site is nice because we always get a refresher class every year and discuss all the new changes for the new tax year.
I have many friends, family members and acquaintances, that know I volunteer & try to stay as current as possible. They ask me to either use the site or help them when preparing their returns. All have asked me why I do not open up shop. I have read the serious & funny answers to this that many post on here, I know all responses are very true! After consideration, I have decided to do it out of necessity. I am a loan closer and income has been marginal the last Two years and would like to supplement my income & see what can come of it. I have previously been 6 & 63 licensed and have a decent working knowledge when it come to compliance, ethics and taxes.
I have applied for my EFIN as an ERO. I am not sure it is a good start but have about 50 clients lined up to start with. Any help or advise any of you might offer would be greatly appreciated.
Larry
